Do you want to be more comfortable and effective
talking about Climate Change?

Climate Conversations can help

Climate Conservations is a 6-session online program that improves your ability to effectively and authentically engage others when discussing climate change.

Though there are many resources that teach you how to frame your climate messages, there are few programs that provide opportunities to build skills and practice them in a supportive, low-stakes environment.

A new Climate Conservations starts January 17, 2025.

DID YOU KNOW?

“There is one thing that everyone can do, and we’re not doing it

Talk about it. If you don’t talk, why would you care? And if you don’t care, why would you do anything about it?”

Dr Katharine Hayhoe, Saving Us

DID YOU KNOW?

If you avoid talking about climate change you’re not alone. Good news: talking about climate change can be easier than it may seem. The best way to start talking is to find what you have in common, and start there. Sometimes lightening up the conversation is a great way to start.

Program Overview

The sessions are fully interactive and experiential with no lectures and few slides. Each 90-minute session flies by, as you jump in and out of breakout rooms and practice new skills with new friends and colleagues.

Session One: Listen

Build trust by making others feel heard.

Session Two: Connect

Start a dialogue by probing for shared values and interests.

Session Three: Empathize

Understand others by practicing perspective-taking.

Session Four: Influence

Inspire actions regardless of your level of expertise.

Session Five: Engage

Convey ideas with confident presence.

Session Six: Practice

Apply the behaviors experienced in Sessions 1 - 5
to real-life scenarios, and receive personal coaching.

What you will get: Practical Skills!

Our goal is to help you build new skills in a supportive space, so you are more prepared to have difficult climate conversations in the real world. After each session, you will receive a summary of the exercises, references shared in the sessions, short articles, and videos for additional learning, as well as ideas for practicing your new climate conversation skills between sessions.

Is this for me?

Climate Conversations is for anyone who is concerned about the impacts of climate change and wants to be more comfortable having one-on-one conversations about the environment.
Please note this course is not for those seeking basic information about climate change.

Previous participants included professionals and volunteers who have climate conversations with people from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives: peers, educators, youth, neighbors, municipal leaders, land trust members, people concerned about health, and marine contractors.
